Tough Bar Fence
Tough Bar Fence's roots may have originated from the cattle country of Kansas, "the Flinthills" we are excited about our relocation to Texas.

Dave Gehrt is the second generation to make his living grazing cattle in the flinthills. His father, Buck Gehrt, began day working and custom grazing yearlings starting in the 1940s. Buck spent his entire life running pastures and custom grazing. He started in the day before trucks and trailers. Dave, from a very young age, was following in his dad's footsteps. He also custom grazed yearlings, having many cattle from Southwest Texas to Florida shipped to Kansas for summer grazing. During this time, Dave also had an agriculture fencing business. When he designs a set of working pens or offers his advice to customers, it stems from many years of working cattle himself. Well aware of the importance of a well-working facility to decrease stress and increase efficiency. We have had countless years of penning cattle to work or ship using every type of pen imaginable. The pen that works by far the best and is the most cost-efficient is the continuous fence. We have had them tested and 18 semi's lined up to load out 1,300 head of yearlings. They were penned and loaded from a continuous fence pen and alley built by Dave. Averaging 15 min per truck to load, with a crew of 5 guys, 3 on horseback and 2 running up the chute. When you are gathering cattle off a rugged pasture that is a few sections in size, you want to be sure you have your cattle contained.

Our relocation to Texas was so that we could be closer to our family here. Family is important to us, we spent 35 married years with Dave's family now we get Brenda's side. To say the least, we are excited to bring "Tough Bar Fence" to Texas and spend time with our family.
