Tough Bar Fence is led by Dave Gehrt, a second-generation cattleman raised in the Flint Hills of Kansas, where his father, Buck Gehrt, custom-grazed cattle starting in the 1940s. With a life rooted in livestock operations, Dave grew up working cattle, managing large pastures, and building fence.

For decades, Dave has been trusted to design and build working pens, horse runs, arenas, and perimeter fencing for ranchers, horse owners, veterinarians, and landowners throughout the Midwest and Texas. His pen layouts are built from decades of hands-on experience, and his work proves how efficient and dependable continuous fencing can be when engineered by someone who’s lived the work.

Tough Bar Fence is a true family operation. Dave and Brenda Gehrt, married for more than 40 years, work alongside their sons, Tee and Payton, combining knowledge, dedication, and attention to detail in every order. Guided by the values of family, hard work, and honesty, Tough Bar Fence has built a reputation for strength, reliability, and integrity in not only heavy-duty livestock fencing but all your continuous fencing needs.

Tough Bar Fence was born out of the Flint Hills cattle country of Kansas, where the Gehrt family built their legacy on honest work and well-built fences. Today, we’ve brought that same commitment to East Texas, where we now serve a growing community of ranchers, horse owners, and landowners in need of reliable fencing solutions.

Our relocation has allowed us to stay close to family while expanding our reach and helping others build safer, more efficient cattle pens, arenas, horse runs, and perimeter fencing, that truly last. We’re proud to offer continuous fence panels that combine decades of experience with straightforward installation, long-term durability, and a clean, professional finish that makes a difference in both form and function.
